In accordance with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), JHM provides immediate, free, and permanent online access to all published articles without subscription fees, paywalls, or mandatory registration.

Readers may access, read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to the full texts of published articles, and use the published content in accordance with the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license and relevant copyright regulations. No financial or administrative barriers are imposed on readers seeking to access published research. Finally, JHM supports the responsible dissemination and reuse of scholarly knowledge while respecting authors' rights, maintaining publication integrity, and acknowledging the contributions of researchers and other rights holders.

Copyright and Author Rights

Authors retain copyright of their published works in accordance with the journal's copyright policy and the terms of the applicable publishing agreement. By publishing in JHM, authors grant the journal the right to publish, distribute, archive, and disseminate their articles as specified in the publication agreement.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that they hold the necessary rights to all materials included in their manuscripts, including figures, tables, photographs, and other third-party content. Any material reproduced or adapted from external sources must be accompanied by appropriate attribution and permission where required by applicable copyright law. Finally, JHM encourages the broad dissemination of published research and the responsible reuse of scholarly content in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license.

Open Citation and Scholarly Metadata

JHM supports the principles of the Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC) and promotes the discoverability, accessibility, and responsible reuse of scholarly citation data. Where applicable, JHM encourages the open dissemination of article metadata, including article titles, author names, abstracts, publication details, persistent identifiers, and reference lists, through Crossref and other appropriate scholarly infrastructure. Citation metadata should be made openly available to support research discovery, citation analysis, bibliometric studies, and the development of interconnected scholarly knowledge. Finally, JHM aims to ensure that its metadata and reference information are accurate, complete, and deposited in accordance with the requirements of the relevant registration and indexing services.

Archiving and Long-Term Accessibility

JHM is committed to maintaining the long-term accessibility and preservation of its published scholarly content. The journal seeks to ensure that published articles remain accessible beyond their initial publication and encourages the use of appropriate digital preservation and repository practices. Information about the journal's specific digital preservation arrangements, repository partnerships, and self-archiving provisions is provided in the relevant journal policies.

Licensing Notices and Legal Considerations

The Creative Commons license does not eliminate rights or obligations that may arise under applicable copyright law or other legal provisions. It does not automatically grant permission to use third-party materials that are excluded from the license, nor does it necessarily resolve issues involving privacy, publicity, moral rights, trademarks, or other independently protected rights.

No warranties are provided under the Creative Commons license. Users should review the applicable license terms and determine whether additional permissions are necessary before reusing published materials. For questions concerning open access, copyright, licensing, or the reuse of published content, authors and readers may contact the editorial office of the JHM.
