COMPUTER ASSITED INSTRUCTION (CAI) SEBAGAI APLIKASI PENUNJANG DALAM PEMBELAJARAN KIMIA

Hingga saat ini, kelas secara fisik merupakan tempat yang dianggap paling ideal untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran khususnya pembelajaran kimia. Pada proses pembelajaran kimia, guru sebagai tokoh utama yang bertanggung jawab dalam penyampaian materi kepada peserta didik di semua jenjang pendidikan. Dalam perkembangannya, guru diminta untuk semakin kreatif ketika mempersiapkan dan menyampaikan materi pembelajaran, dari metode hingga alat yang digunakan. Kreativitas guru dalam menyiapkan dan menyampaikan materi sebagai indikator adanya keterlibatan proses pemikiran yang lebih tinggi (high level thinking) dari guru. Computer Assited Instruction (CAI) merupakan kategori aplikasi komputer yang digunakan untuk membantu guru menyampaikan materi pelajaran dan mendapat respon (feedback) dari siswa. Dengan adanya CAI, siswa dapat mengikuti pelajaran sesuai dengan kemampuannya dan mendapatkan umpan balik dengan cepat. Siswa akan berkurang ketergantungannya kepada guru dan paradigma ‘guru adalah satu-satunya sumber pengetahuan’ atau ‘guru adalah sumber utama pengetahuan’ akan berubah.Â
